All true. We’re lucky in most of the US to have enough local control (in many areas) that a local system can change. But huge systemic change — Finland style change — would require a societal shift — for the US that would require that children be seen as at least as important as adults.
So we work within those tough margins.
And yes, it’s been a long complicated path. In the end I came to education because I thought I might make a difference for kids who were like me. And maybe I have, for at least a few.
