Kids and Our Moral Cataclysm

You will never stop bad behaviors in children — bullying, cruelty, lack of empathy — by targeting messages to children. Kids do what they see adults do — the mimic the culture that surrounds them.

“I can’t really tell kids what to do, how to act,” a master elementary principal once told me. “The people I have control over are the adults. If they behave the right way and do the right things, the kids will follow.”

So how do we raise children in a nation, on a planet without moral leadership? If the influences surrounding our kids range from immoral to amoral, what can we do? What are our responsibilities?
